Mary Mead Hammond (affectionately known as "Mooey") is a Denver native. She graduated from Harvard University Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 1975. She received her law degree from Harvard University in 1979. Upon graduation she joined the Denver law firm of Holland & Hart, LLP, where she worked for 6 years on a wide variety of legal matters, including water rights and water quality. In 1985 she left Holland & Hart with John Carlson and others to form the predecessor to Carlson, Hammond & Paddock. Since that time her practice includes representation of various municipal, agricultural, development, and individual interests in all aspects of surface and underground water rights adjudications, including obtaining water rights, opposing water rights filings of others, augmentation plans, exchanges, development of water storage projects, and water quality issues. She is also involved in appearing before administrative and permitting agencies with jurisdiction over ground water, surface water and water quality. She has worked closely with organizations representing Colorado water interests in preparing, monitoring and lobbying for or against proposed state and federal legislation and agency rules that affect those interests. She is also general counsel to the Colorado Water and Power Development Authority, a political subdivision of the state involved in financing water related infrastructure.

Bill Paddock was born in Boulder, Colorado. He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado and his J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law. He joined the water unit of the Colorado Attorney General's Office upon graduation, and during his tenure there represented state agencies in water rights matters. He also served as the legal advisor to Colorado's Compact Commissioners on the Arkansas River Compact and the Rio Grande Compact, and was responsible for the supervision of the then on-going federal reserved rights and Indian reserved rights litigation in Colorado. In 1985, Mr. Paddock went into private practice and in 1986 joined in founding Carlson, Hammond & Paddock, L.L.C. of which he is now the manager. He has a diverse practice that includes, among other things, representing agricultural, municipal, and industrial clients in water rights and water quality matters. He is a frequent speaker on water rights and water law at continuing legal education and engineering seminars, he has authored numerous articles, and is the Colorado Reporter for the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation's Water Law Newsletter.

Lee H. Johnson is a 1984 graduate of the University of Wisconsin/Madison and a 1988 graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. Following the completion of a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Thomas J. Kalitowski of the Minnesota Court of Appeals, Mr. Johnson moved to Colorado and became an associate at Carlson, Hammond & Paddock, L.L.C. in October of 1989. He became a member of the firm in 1995. He continues to practice in the areas of water rights, water quality, environmental law, and general civil litigation.

Karl D. Ohlsen is a 1995 graduate of Reed College and a 2000 graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law. Following completion of judicial clerkships in Boulder County District Court with the Honorable Lael E. Montgomery and the Honorable Morris W. Sanstead, Jr., Mr. Ohlsen became an associate at Carlson, Hammond & Paddock, L.L.C. in 2001. He represents various municipal, agricultural and private interest clients in water matters, real property, contracts, environmental issues, and general civil litigation.

Beth Ann J. Parsons is a fourth generation Colorado native. She is a 1996 graduate of Stanford University and a 2000 graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law, where she served as articles editor of the Colorado Journal of Environmental Policy & Law and was elected to the Order of the Coif. Upon graduation from law school, Ms. Parsons served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Rebecca Love Kourlis of the Colorado Supreme Court. Prior to joining Carlson, Hammond & Paddock, L.L.C., Ms. Parsons practiced in the environmental and land use section at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. She joined Carlson, Hammond & Paddock, L.L.C., in 2003. Ms. Parsons represents various municipal, agricultural, and private interest clients in water matters, real property, contracts, environmental issues, and general civil litigation.

Roger L. Phillips is a 1999 graduate of Colorado State University and a 2005 graduate of American University's Washington College of Law.  Mr. Phillips completed clerkships with Judge Carol Glowinsky of the Boulder District Court and Judge Daniel M. Taubman of the Colorado Court of Appeals.  Prior to law school, Mr. Phillips was a Peace Corps volunteer in the West African nation of Togo.  He represents various municipal, agricultural and private interest clients in water matters, real property, contracts, environmental issues, and general civil litigation.
